Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR)

The OSHCR was established in response to the Government's Common Sense, Common Safety report, which recommended that all H&S consultants should be accredited to a professional body and that a web-based directory be established. The register aims to assist businesses to find advice on general H&S management.

 

A network of professional bodies and stakeholders have worked together in partnership to develop this register, which has established a benchmark standard for safety consultants and help to raise the quality of advice being given to businesses.

 

This minimum standard has been set at a degree level qualification, at least two years’ experience and active engagement in a continuing professional development scheme.

 

Businesses can have confidence in choosing an H&S consultant from the register, as they are bound by their professional body's code of conduct and are committed to providing sensible and proportionate H&S advice.

The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)

NEBOSH was formed in 1979 as an awarding body with charitable status. We offer a comprehensive range of globally-recognised qualifications designed to meet the health, safety and environmental management needs of all places of work.

 

Courses leading to NEBOSH qualifications attract around 50,000 candidates annually and are offered by over 600-course providers, with exams taken in over 120 countries around the world. In 2014, we were delighted to be awarded Britain's highest accolade for trade success, the Queen's Award for Enterprise, for our "outstanding achievement" in International Trade.

Our qualifications are recognised by the relevant professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM), the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA).
