The syllabus takes a risk management approach, based around best practice and international industry standards, including:

  • Environmental Management Systems and aspect identification

  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency

  • Control of pollution

  • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies.

  • Learners will learn how to carry out an environmental review of the workplace and prepare a report to management regarding the review with recommendations for improvement


The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management consists of two units, each separately assessed:

  • EC1: Management and control of environmental hazards

  • EC2: Environmental practical application

No previous environmental management knowledge is required. Learners should note that the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report.

This course is assessed by a. 2 two-hour exam and a practical project. The exam is conducted at the centre where you studied EC1and the project is completed in your own workplace. The project should take no longer than a few hours to complete and you will have 10-days from the end of the course to return it to us.


NEBOSH Certificate courses are Level 3 qualifications that are equivalent to an A-Level. As such you will experience an intensive learning experience, so to assist, you should make sure that your diary is as clear as possible. You are advised to negotiate some ‘breathing space’ with your employer and your family (if applicable) in which to undertake your revision and complete the practical assessment project which is an integral part of the course assessment.



Certification


Those who successfully complete the course and pass the assessments are awarded the official NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate. Certificates are forwarded to the candidate by us approximately 16 weeks after completion of the course although results are usually issued within 12weeks.

Examination Postponement


We reserve the right to not enter any candidate for a NEBOSH exam due to poor attendance If you are unable to attend a session, it is your responsibility to read the relevant chapters in the textbook.


We reserve the right to not enter any candidate for a NEBOSH exam due to poor mock exam results, this may be open for discussion with individual candidates depending on their abilities and commitment and a new proposed date for sitting the exam can be agreed upon.



Minimum Standard of English Required for Candidates


There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

Lunch and Refreshments


Delegates can bring their own food and drinks with them should they choose to do so, there is also a shared kitchen on the premises with a microwave oven and refrigerator. A ‘snack van’ visits the centre each morning and a co-operative store is also sited within a short walking distance. Refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits etc. will be provided throughout the course.
